DMU50 and Hypermill increase toolroom scope at Martins
Posted on 20/05/2012 Category: Martins Rubber News
The recent installation of a Deckel Maho DMU50 5 axis machine and a software upgrade to Hypermill for our machining centres has greatly enhanced the scope of the toolroom at Martins Rubber. Our staff have been intensively training to use the new equipment at their disposal, and it has been rewarding to see new tools being manufactured using the impressive capabilities of the DMU50, and the superb machining strategies available in Hypermill. You can see the intricate movements possible with the DMU50 and Hypermill in this clip on our YouTube site. Whilst there is still a lot to learn, the seamless integration with our existing Solidworks CAD package is a major benefit, and the uncanny accuracy in replicating the 3D models seen on screen is most rewarding to our staff. Given that Martins have been making our own mould tools in-house since the 1940’s, it is clear that we have long experience of traditional toolroom custom & practice, and the combination of these robust time-served skills allied with the modern capabilities we now have under our roof gives us an impressive degree of competence. This helps us deliver innovative tool designs and in turn, the superior products that derive from such tools, all of which helps us to help our customers by adding value from an expert manufacturing resource based here in the UK.
