Martin’s Rubber Company has been working with customers in the Energy industry for more than 50 years. In this blog, we give you an overview of our sector expertise and products that have helped to keep the energy industry powered this last half a century. Nowadays, the energy sector is assuming ever more importance as globalisation continues apace. Newly emerging technologies have many challenging problems to solve, as existing resources become more difficult to extract and refine, and new energy sources create new applications which require addressing. Here is a brief overview of some of our ongoing work, and the various sectors that we service, within the current Energy industry market.

Oil & Gas

In the early years, Martin’s Rubber began working with the energy sector by producing rubber seals for the well-established local oil wells along the south coast of England. This is a market and product sector that has steadily grown and we now manufacture and supply a wide variety of rubber products and engineering plastic parts for use across the Oil & Gas industry – both on shore and off shore. We supply Oil & Gas OEM equipment, including specialist industrial rubber products, like HVP-flapper seals and slipper seals, Viton, Aflas, and silicone rubber O-rings, and bespoke seals in low-temperature materials such as Epichlorhydrin, HNBR and Fluorosilicone. We have NORSOK compliant materials, and FPAL approval as a supplier into this industry.

Petrochemical

We moved into supplying local Petrochemical refineries with a wide range of moulded butterfly gate valve seals, pipe flange gaskets, seal kits for compressors and standard or bespoke O-Rings. Now, we can proudly point to our vast experience of supplying rubber mouldings, rubber seals and gaskets to the petrochemical industry on a global basis. With a wide range of Viton grades available, though to Kalrez, Aflas, fluorosilicone and Perfluoroelastomer, Martin’s Rubber has a material solution for the petrochemical industry; from the oil refinery business through to chemical and process plants.

Renewables

More recently, we have been working with the Renewables sector. This is a rapidly expanding area, as the concern over depleting oil reserves increases. However, it is not a new industry to Martin’s Rubber by any means. We have been supplying this sector for more than 15 years. Key areas of supply include the wind energy market with components for turbines on wind farms, and we have growing interests in the renewables market sector. We regularly provide a wide range of consumable parts, including machined rubber seals, rubber O-rings, foam rubber gaskets, rubber sheeting and rubber washers.

Nuclear

Martin’s Rubber has been a supplier to the UK Nuclear Industry since the 1950s. The complete range of rubber mouldings, rubber gaskets and rubber seals used in the industry are supported by our facilities, and our CNC machining abilities come into play when engineering plastic components are required. The products we have supplied range from standard rubber O-Rings and gaskets, through to specialist rubber moulding products in bespoke materials, which have proven performance over many years service..
